Help for downtown Business Owners

Meet the DDA Board >> Help for downtown Business Owners

Planning and Zoning Department
The City of Coldwater Planning Commission serves as an advisory group to the city. The commission administers the Coldwater Comprehensive Plan that sets forth the policies, guidelines and land use designations for long-range development of the city. As new trends are recognized and priorities change, it is the responsibility of the Planning Commission to propose changes to the Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Ordinance that will further promote the public health, safety and welfare of the community.

The Planning Commission also reviews all rezoning requests, special use permits, subdivision plats, lot splits and development site plans. The Planning Commission meets on the first Tuesday of each month (April is the second Tuesday) at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chamber of the Henry L. Brown Municipal Building. All meetings are open to the public.  For more information about the City of Coldwater's Planning and Zoning Deparatment, click here.

Neighborhood Services
The DDA and downtown building/business owners work closely with the Coldwater Neighborhood Services. The Neighborhood Services Department has been established with citizen service and complaint resolution as our main focus. They handle all complaints and concerns that anyone may have about their neighborhood environment. Their main duties focus on building inspection and plan review. They also handle all building permits, do plan review for all commercial jobs as well as all inspections for these jobs and residential construction.

This department will investigate any concern from building safety and permit inspection to a junk vehicle in a neighbor's back yard. If you need our services to address any of the following problems or activities, call our response line at 517/279-6288 any time of the day. Neighborhood Services is located in the Henry L. Brown Municipal Building, One Grand Street.  To obtain more information about Neighborhood Services, click here.
